Checkout Terms Of Service

These Terms govern your use of Checkout, including the iOS app, public website at checkoutrankings.com, product database, rankings, uploads, ratings, profiles, friends, community features, AI-assisted parsing, ads, and related services. Checkout is operated by Astretto LLC.
By creating an account, signing in, uploading content, rating products, or otherwise using Checkout, you agree to these Terms.
Service
Checkout is a product ranking service for grocery, beverage, household, personal care, and related retail products, primarily for the North American market. App users can scan barcodes, upload product information and photos, rate products, browse category rankings, compare products, and discover community-ranked items. Website visitors can browse public product pages, category rankings, review guides, search results, and related editorial or community-powered ranking pages.
Checkout may also show admin-curated or editorial labels, such as Checkout Top Pick or featured rankings. These labels are intended to help users discover products and do not guarantee that a product is right for every user.
Website, Search, And Advertising
The Checkout website is a public discovery and review surface for community-powered grocery rankings. Website pages may include product information, product photos, aggregate ratings, category rankings, editorial copy, search pages, advertising placements, and links to third-party sites or services.
Ads, sponsored placements, affiliate links, or third-party links do not mean Checkout endorses the advertiser, retailer, product, claim, or destination. Third-party ads and links may be governed by separate terms and policies. Checkout may change, add, remove, randomize, rank, or reorder website content, search results, ads, guides, and category pages at any time.
If Checkout publishes sponsored, affiliate, paid, or otherwise materially connected recommendations, Checkout will use reasonable disclosure labels or surrounding context so users can understand the relationship. You agree not to hide, manipulate, or misrepresent advertising, sponsorship, affiliate, review, or ranking signals in connection with Checkout.
Accounts
You need an account to use core Checkout features such as ratings, uploads, reports, saved products, and account deletion. Checkout supports Apple Sign In and Google Sign-In.
You are responsible for activity on your account and for keeping your sign-in method secure. You agree to provide accurate account information and to use Checkout only in a lawful way.
Profiles, Handles, And Friends
Checkout uses unique @ handles so users can identify each other inside the app. You may change your handle if the requested handle is available and follows Checkout's rules. Do not choose a handle, display name, profile image, or profile behavior that impersonates someone else, misleads users, violates rights, or creates safety, moderation, or legal risk.
Checkout's Friends features let users search handles, send friend requests, accept or decline requests, remove friends, view profile pages, and see friend activity when the other user shares it. You agree to use Friends respectfully and only to connect with people through normal app use. Do not harass, spam, scrape, pressure, or manipulate other users through friend requests, profile views, ratings, comments, or activity.
Private Profile, Anonymous Reviews, Allow Friend Requests, and Share Ratings With Friends are in-app visibility controls. These controls affect how your profile and ratings appear in supported app surfaces, but they do not delete shared product records, aggregate rankings, moderation records, support records, backups, or information already viewed by other users.
User Content And Product Uploads
You may submit product names, brands, barcodes, categories, tags, product photos, ingredients, nutrition details, store or purchase-location information, ratings, reviews, reports, edit requests, feedback, and other content.
You are responsible for the content you submit. Do not upload content that is false, misleading, unlawful, private, confidential, offensive, spam, or that violates another person's rights.
By submitting content, you grant Checkout a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, transferable, sublicensable license to host, store, use, reproduce, display, modify, analyze, distribute, publish, and create derivative works from that content for operating, improving, promoting, moderating, and protecting Checkout, the Checkout website, and the shared product ranking database.
Shared Product Database
Product uploads are intended to become part of Checkout's shared product database. Product pages, product photos, ingredients, nutrition details, categories, rankings, ratings, review counts, and related product data may be displayed in the app, on the public Checkout website, in search results, in review guides, and in related ranking or discovery surfaces. They may remain available after your account is deleted.
Deleting your account does not automatically delete product pages or product photos you uploaded. Account deletion unlinks product uploads from your account where possible. If you want us to review or remove product uploads or photos you contributed, contact support. We may remove, edit, merge, anonymize, or retain product uploads at our discretion, including for moderation, duplicate cleanup, product quality, privacy, legal, security, or intellectual property reasons.
AI-Assisted Product Parsing
Checkout may use AI-assisted tools to parse product photos, read labels, extract ingredients and nutrition facts, identify product names and brands, suggest category placement, and improve the category hierarchy.
AI output can be incomplete, outdated, or incorrect. You are responsible for reviewing product drafts before submitting them. Checkout may edit, merge, recategorize, remove, or moderate product records to improve quality and reduce duplicates.
AI-assisted tools are convenience and quality tools only. They do not replace your responsibility to verify labels, allergens, ingredients, nutrition, product identity, and product suitability before buying, consuming, or relying on a product.
Ratings, Rankings, And Top Picks
Ratings, reviews, rankings, category order, review counts, search results, website ordering, and Checkout Top Picks are informational and may change over time. They may be based on community ratings, product data, category placement, moderation decisions, admin curation, website presentation logic, and app logic.
You agree not to manipulate ratings, reviews, rankings, product uploads, reports, categories, or Checkout Top Picks.
Product Information And Health Disclaimers
Checkout contains user-submitted, AI-assisted, and community-maintained product data. We do not guarantee that product names, barcodes, ingredients, allergens, nutrition facts, labels, categories, ratings, rankings, photos, store information, or product availability are complete, accurate, current, or suitable for your needs.
Always verify important information from the product package, manufacturer, retailer, or a qualified professional. Checkout is not medical, dietary, allergy, legal, or professional advice. Ingredient Checker and similar features are convenience tools only and may miss or incorrectly flag ingredients.
Prohibited Uses
You agree not to:
- Submit false, misleading, spam, offensive, abusive, unlawful, or non-product content.
- Upload content that violates privacy, publicity, copyright, trademark, or other rights.
- Upload private personal information or sensitive information about another person.
- Impersonate another person, brand, company, Checkout, Astretto LLC, or a Checkout admin.
- Harass, spam, threaten, or abuse users through profiles, handles, friend requests, ratings, comments, reports, or edit requests.
- Manipulate ratings, reviews, rankings, reports, categories, Checkout Top Picks, or product data.
- Use bots, scraping, crawling, automated extraction, reverse engineering, or abuse of Checkout or its infrastructure.
- Attempt to bypass security, access controls, rate limits, moderation, or account restrictions.
- Use Checkout to harass others, commit fraud, or violate applicable law.
Moderation And Enforcement
Checkout may review, edit, merge, recategorize, hide, remove, or retain content and accounts at our discretion. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, create risk for Checkout or its users, or interfere with the service.
Intellectual Property
Checkout's name, logo, app design, interface, ranking system, curated labels, data organization, and service elements belong to Checkout or Astretto LLC.
Product names, packaging, logos, photos, trademarks, and brand materials belong to their respective owners. Checkout displays product-related materials for identification, ranking, comparison, review, moderation, and consumer information.
Third-Party Services And Links
Checkout may rely on third-party services for authentication, hosting, storage, website deployment, analytics, advertising, AI-assisted parsing, email, support, telemetry, diagnostics, payments, and community links. Your use of third-party services, ads, and external links may be subject to their own terms and policies.
Apple is not responsible for Checkout, Checkout content, support, warranties, product claims, user content, or legal claims related to Checkout except to the extent required by Apple's own terms or applicable law. Your use of the iOS app is also subject to applicable App Store terms.
Coffee Supporter Subscription
Checkout may offer an optional Coffee Supporter auto-renewable subscription through Apple's in-app purchase system. The subscription is intended to help support ongoing development and operating costs. Checkout's core scanning, ranking, upload, search, rating, and browsing features remain free to use whether or not you subscribe.
If you subscribe, Checkout may show a Coffee Supporter badge or similar supporter mark on your profile or supported community surfaces while your subscription is active. Supporter recognition is a cosmetic community status feature, not a guarantee of special ranking treatment, moderation priority, product placement, or uninterrupted service.
Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless canceled according to Apple's App Store rules. Payments, renewals, cancellations, refunds, and billing management are handled by Apple. The price and billing period shown in Apple's purchase sheet at the time of purchase control the purchase. You can manage or cancel subscriptions through your Apple App Store subscription settings. Prices, names, badges, and supporter benefits may change, but Checkout will not remove core app access solely because you are not a subscriber.
Account Deletion
You may delete your account in the app from Profile -> Delete Account. Account deletion removes or unlinks account-scoped data where feasible, including friend connections and friend requests, but some information may remain, including shared product database entries, anonymized ratings, operational logs, backups, moderation records, support records, and information retained for legal, security, billing, dispute, or product-quality reasons.
Deleting your Checkout account does not automatically cancel any active App Store subscription. If you have an active Coffee Supporter subscription, you should also cancel it through Apple's subscription settings.
Disclaimers
Checkout is provided "as is" and "as available." We do not promise that Checkout will be uninterrupted, error-free, perfectly accurate, or available at all times.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Checkout and Astretto LLC disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, availability, and reliability.
Limitation Of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Checkout and Astretto LLC will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, goodwill, or business opportunities arising from or related to your use of Checkout.
Changes
We may update these Terms as Checkout changes. The updated Terms will show a new "Last updated" date. Continued use of Checkout after an update means you accept the updated Terms.
